You will get your first renewal, to your mailing address, around 10 months after your eligibility start date, requesting a return within 30 days. You can usually find an electronic copy of your renewal on your MNsure account, under notifications, after it is created. MNsure navigators are paid by MNsure to help with MA renewals! Managed Care Plan Selection: Every fall, usually before October 20, MA members receive a form saying they can change their HMO choice if they wish. If you are happy with your HMO choice, you do not need to do anything. If you do wish to change your HMO choice, you must do so before the end of the year. Use the form provided and the pre-addressed envelope. There are answers to Frequently Asked Questions about this process here. Renewal Instructions: One page "checklist" on how to complete your renewal. Official rules about MA income verification Fee-for-Service information: During the first month or two of your coverage, your county is going to pay for your health care directly. This temporary period at the beginning of your coverage is called the "fee-for-service" period. You will get a Minnesota HealthCare Programs card in the mail that you will use during this period and you must get all of your care in the fee-for-service network during this period. After you select a Managed Care Organization (MCO), your county instead starts paying that MCO a monthly premium on your behalf. The MCO will send you cards and welcome materials usually shortly after the first of the month in which your MCO coverage starts.
